I can customise workshops to fit your needs and learning environment!

Here are some ideas

Explore and Play

This workshop introduces you to the idea of incorporating a short period of self-directed play into your students’ day. Come ready to experience playful materials and ideas and explore what you can learn about your students during this playful time. You will be given an observational tool and have a chance to practice using it and connect it to your learning environment. Learn about the benefits of self-directed play, the research behind it and the transformations I saw in my own classroom.

Loose Parts in Literacy

Actively experience provocations from the Alberta curriculum using loose parts for literacy across all subjects and grade levels at the elementary level. Find out more about loose parts as a way to evoke children’s stories and understandings. Hear how you can curate your collection for little to no money.

Outdoor Play

Take your learning outside. We start with an outdoor learning inventory to really delve into your outdoor space and then work through some provocations together. This can be tied to your big question, your school development plan, curricular content or just for fun.

Assessment - Making it more playful using Loose Parts

Looking for more creative ways to assess your students? This workshop explores some provocations from the Alberta curriculum using loose parts as your assessment tool. You will have time to reflect and discuss with colleagues about implementing this in your own classroom. Worried about accountability? Capturing your assessment with photos or recordings takes care of that. We will explore assessing prior knowledge as well as formative and summative assessment.
